Parked in a Parkes park, NSW loco 3075, originally built as a 4-6-4 tank but later after suburban electrification in Sydney was converted to the 4-6-0 tender form seen here. In this form they worked on many branch lines and in the last years of steam some were shunters in some centres. Seen here in March 2007.

Yes it is a Beyer-Peacock, built for the NSW State Govt railways, known as the C30 class. Originally there were 145 built, 50 were built in the railway's Eveleigh Workshops, as 4-6-4 tank locos for the Sydney suburban network. The first ones were delivered in 1903 and the last in 1917. Electrification started in 1924. From 1928 to 1932 77 were converted to 4-6-0 tender locos, as in this shot, using a variety of older 6 or 8 wheeled tenders. These became the principle branch line power until replaced by diesels in the 60s. These tender types were the C30T class.

This album shows a 30 cl on a tour hauling the steam era suburban cars.

This album has a few shots (one is my banner photo) at its end of the 30T cl in use as a yard shunter. (1972 was the last whole year of Govt steam in NSW)

Nicely taken, Graham. If I remember correctly, when I was growing up in Brisbane these were commonly seen on what was known as the Kyogle Lne to NSW. HFF and have a great weekend.

Always good to see such engines, even if they are locked up like this. Well done.

HFF, enjoy the week. Herb

Good to see it has survived. Looks like it needs some TLC & a lot of cash to get back in steam!
HFF Graham. Enjoy the weekend.

Would be a big job. I read somewhere that the copper boiler tubes and copper from the firebox were removed before it was put here. Also I'd guess that plenty brass fittings were also taken. There is one of these in working order here: www.nswrailmuseum.com.au/tickets
and another which ran till 2018 is under overhaul here: canberrarail.org.au/3016/updates3016.html
