The Carlos Gap train radio site showing the disappearance of two solar panels despite the fence. The black thing below the panels is a generator to backup the solar supply. Sometime in early 1995.
HFF to everyone for 13/10/23.

Martin H., trester88, Frans Schols, Annemarie and 5 other people have particularly liked this photo

That would have been quite advanced for 1995. Did someone pinch the other panels? HFF and have a good weekend, Graham.

Thanks George. Yes, there were two more panels on the lower mounting bars. Not very advanced in the railway signalling and telecoms world. I installed my first solar powered radio link end in 1979 (a 1 channel link providing a normal phone service to an artist's home West of Mangrove Mountain).

Thanks Frans. You are correct in thinking there could be 6 more but the calculations on showed we needed a total of 14 panels so there were only 2 on the lower section. The generator was still there when I finished at the railway. At this time the system hadn't been commissioned so the problem was arranging for replacements. I just checked my last photo at this site and the 2 have been replaced by 4.

Thanks Xata. A railway tunnel is quite a large structure. No need for claustrophobia.
Some people at the entrance to a similar tunnel. www.ipernity.com/doc/grahamh/24110467

Thanks Steve. The police station I reported the loss to was a little surprised only 2 were taken. It is an out-of-the-way area of maily forest and rocks where there are some who grow marijuana.
