199404MarulanCommsRoom0001
This is part of the station building. This was used to avoid having a project concrete hut detracting from the otherwise heritagely attractive old station building. The room hadn't been used for a long time. When the station person first opened the door for me I saw some wall-mounted shelving with lots of dust and a hurricane lamp, with kero in the tank, and a decaying box of matches beside it. There was no mains power in the room. The room as seen in the photo had the shelves removed, ceiling, walls and floor cleaned and painted, and with a comms lock fitted to the door. Electric lighting and power points were installed. Then it was ready for use.
