We had brunch at the beachfront cafe nearby 4th July 2024. Forster's new surf life saving clubhouse is nearly complete. The new facilities are set to help volunteers to be better equipped when keeping the community safe in and around the water. nbnnews.com.au History The old clubhouse was demolished in the weeks following the final surf patrol, which was held on ANZAC Day (25 April) 2022. The building was the second of its kind, with the first Forster SLSC building located on Pilot Hill above the current clubhouse site. Sunday challenge 104 - Out of place Gecko and Sekonda watch Individually hand crafted from recycled metal drums and hand painted by the talented artisans from Haiti, each Gecko has it’s own personality. Sekonda is a British brand which was established in 1966 to offer a collection of mechanical watches which were manufactured in Russia. With extensive marketing support and superb customer service Sekonda quickly became a household name. The introduction of the quartz movement saw manufacture moved to Hong Kong and this enabled Sekonda to introduce more fashionable styles. After it closed in 2007, Mr Huntly and business partner David Rich bought the Australian franchise rights from the chain's US parent company. Sunday challenge 105 - Logo THE LOGO The now-famous logo was actually created by celebrity artist Alan Aldridge, who's best known for his work with The Beatles. It was based on Isaac's idea to model it after the simple design of Chevrolet's car hood ornament. Originally, they were going to make the colors red, white and blue, but decided that would be too much "Americana." Good move, guys.
