Rainbow Lorikeet on the Golden Penda in the Noosa hinterland, Queensland, Australia.
I was very lucky that the Golden Penda is so attractive to the native birds that this Lorikeet stayed around for a while.
These aptly named beautiful Australian birds, the Rainbow Lorikeets, parrots, have incredibly brightly coloured feathers, and a distinctive screeching call.
In Noosa they fly between the Noosa River and the Hinterland feeding on the rich variety of flowering/fruiting trees and shrubs.

Amazing feathers.
A water bird that is closely related to the Cormorants.
Anhinga novaehollandiae
The Darter's slender body, long, snake-like neck and its pointed, rather than hooked, bill distinguishes it readily from the bulkier cormorants with which it is often found.

The river begins in the Como Escarpment and meets Teewah Creek, then flows south across the Noosa Plain between Lakes Como and Cooloola before entering Lake Fig Tree and Lake Cootharaba with its popular camp grounds at Boreen Point and Elanda Point. The river continues to Lake Cooroibah and Lake Weyba before it meets the sea at Laguna Bay, just north of Noosa’s Main Beach.

Makepeace Island Brig

We were having coffee at Café Vin Cino on the Noosa River, looking out at the rain, when this Brig arrived to collect someone from Noosa Marina.
Makepeace Island is Richard Branson’s Australian resort hideaway on the Noosa River in Queensland. (Since 2003, when it was bought by Brett Godfrey, former CEO of Virgin Australia).
The island was named after former owner, Hannah Makepeace, who inherited it from Charles Nicholas in the 1900s.
It is up river from Noosa Harbour, and the Brig is used as an Island transfer boat.
