322/365 2025 lock
Vintage English Oak Bureau c1910.

This belonged to my Father. His Aunt gave it to him c1946.

Before that it had belonged to his Grandmother.

The key was lost, but we were lucky to find one which worked, from a locksmith.

So nice to have old pieces of furniture that belonged already to our parents or grandparents.
I have an old sewing machine from my grandmother … maybe that could be one of my next photos-of-the-day ;-)

My Dad loved this bureau, and so do I.

Oh my! That looks just like the bookcase in my husband's study (not a family heirloom sadly), only we don't have a key and I never thought to look for one (because he defeats the purpose of a glassed in bookcase by leaving one side always open - haha). That is wonderful. I like the composition and the idea of people keeping furniture from the past. Our family has some wonderful pieces.

It is a real treasure, and I think of my Dad all the time, but even more when I look at the bureau.

It's so sweet! Ours in only a bookshelf, but the glassed in part is the same as yours. I can imagine all the treasures in the drawers of your also.

Great that you also have his bureau. I have my mother's small desk that she used to do all her 'official business' on. It had been my grandmother's, then mom's, now mine. I feel like they both live on through the memories of them at the desk. And who knows, maybe a part of them is left with the object. The world is a crazy amazing place.
