#9 Church of St. Bernadette - Lourdes, France

#9 Church of St. Bernadette - Lourdes, France
Church of St. Bernadette - Lourdes, France.
It has a capacity of 5000 persons of which 320 are disabled. Built in front of the Grotto, on the other side of the Gave, in the place where he was Bernadette July 18, 1858, the day of the last apparition. Was inaugurated March 25, 1988.
Movable panels allow to divide it into two parts (Coté Carmel and Coté Caves) to allow two simultaneous celebrations, while many small adjacent rooms allow many groups to come together in moments of meeting and prayer.
The architect Jean-Paul Felix realized this concrete and metal structure referring to the shape of a butterfly with its wings spread.

, Ilda Casati, Trudy Tuinstra, Gisela Plewe have particularly liked this photo

Gisela, a bit strange how architecture to be a church, because in most modern ones predominates cement.
