We stayed at Bhopal during our recent tour of India specifically so that we could visit the rock shelters at Bhimbetka to look at these paintings. This art is notoriously difficult to date. The earliest seem to date back to the Paleolithic period while others are probably only 600 years old. I took quite a lot of photos of them !
