Looking north from Front Street to Old City Hall.

The PiP at upper left shows a view from slightly farther south.

Love the chaos! (And the yellow signs.)

Thanks, John. The argument for traffic lights with yellow backing is that they're more visible, for traffic lights with black backing it is that they reduce glare. I don't know that there's been much research on the topic, though. I haven't noticed much glare off lights with yellow backing myself.

As I was saying to OldOwl, they seem to me to be far more visible. There doesn't seem to have been much researxh on them, though.

I love the geometrical shapes in this image, John. The juxtaposition of horizontal and vertical lines. The traffic lights add interesting focal points to the image. All the best, Joe

A wonderfully sharp and detailed street shot John, with lots to look at and enjoy.

A lovely PiP too, I especially like the lead ins from the steps and handrails and that gorgeous golden light on the left hand building.

Thanks, Keith. The building on the left is the corporate headquarters Royal Bank of Canada, and each pane of glass contained $70Cdn of gold when when were installed (the proce of gold has since shot uo). As I recall, this was said to be en energy conservation measure at the time, but I can find nothing about that now.

Fascinating, but there has to be a cheaper method of energy conservation :-))

I think that was just a pretext, Keith. RBC was just showing off. They had just moved from Montreal in the exodus of business from Quebec, and they wanted to make a splash, I think.
