Das KZ in Sachsenhausen wurde 1961 als Natinale Mahn- und Gedenkstätte eröffnet. Heute ist die Gedenkstätte und das Museum ein Teil von internationaler Bedeutung. In der Blickachse des Geländes steht das zentrale Mahnmal mit der Pastik namens "Befreiung".
