Another foot of snow fell after this photograph was taken. Over six feet of snow has fallen in the last 2 1/2 weeks.

Neat photo! Looks like ice dam central! I hope the houses there are better equipped for that than ours are here!

Unfortunately, no. People are charging $100 an hour to shovel roofs and even at that rate, one has to wait days to weeks to find anyone to do it.

oh bastards, taking advantage like that! up here we have a lot of metal roofs so the snow slides off. that can be a pain because if you don't get to it right away it's like cement...

Esther I wish you all the best through this crap!

Many years ago ... back in my advertising days ... I was sitting in a meeting when the boss noticed the sprinkler heads in the room were moving. The snow load was about to collapse the roof. It was a flat roofed building and the snow from the warehouse next to it was piling up pretty quick. Me ... and several others spent the next couple of hours up on the roof with snowblowers clearing the snow off the roof. The only time I've ever done that wearing a three piece suit! :-) The following summer the whole roof had to be replaced ... it was buckled everywhere!

That must have been quite a sight. Roof work is such dangerous work, even on a flat roof. We bit the bullet and hired three guys for two hours. They did not get to all of the roof, but took care of the spots that were leaking. It is snowing now and 6 - 12 more inches are expected this weekend so we did not want to take the chance of more damage. We had 3-4 feet of snow on the flat roofs already.

I had to chuckle at the title =D The snow is beautiful, but I have to wonder how much more those roofs will hold....

There have been numerous roof collapses in the area. The owner of this house had over three feet on her roof a few storms later and hired a roofer to remove it. www.ipernity.com/doc/304817/37114990

She's lucky her roof held up under 3ft. of snow! They're not really built to handle that kinda load anymore... The fact that it was slanted probably saved her bacon ;)

We had four feet of snow on our roof before we hired roofers to clear it. I was very worried for a while.
