Oct. 2025. Toronto, la ligne d'horizon de son centre d'affaire, vue depuis le parc naturel Tommy Thompson bordé par le grand lac Ontario.

Nous avons rendu visite à ma belle fille Marilyne qui nous a fait la surprise d'attendre notre venue pour programmer la célébration de son accession au statut d'avocat au barreau de Montréal, au Québec.
Nous en avons profité pour enrichir notre exploration des régions avoisinantes, de la ville de Québec aux chutes du Niagara.
Période charnière au Canada entre fin d'été et basculement vers la saison froide : le ciel nous fut clément pour nos principales visites !

So you visited Toronto and, I imagine, Niagara in 1979? I can confirm that neither place has really changed! (I saw them in 1991). I admit I was a little worried, but they have maintained a certain ethic with regard to natural sites (as long as their profitability remains assured :-)

Actually, I first visited both in 1977 and then I moved to Toronto in 1987 to live there for a year. I really enjoyed my time there as I also had the chance to experience a Canadian winter. Not that we have much of a winter in Karlsruhe...as you know, Eric.

Remembering the particularly cold 1984 winter (-20°C) spent in Karlsruhe among other places, I think I will definitely avoid the Canadian winter!
So you confirm that Toronto is a beautiful, lively, and pleasant city to live in.
But it's so spread out....... OvO
I only stayed there 1.5 days.

- 20 °C...are you sure that was Karlsruhe? And not Toronto?? ;-))) I just looked at some old photos of 1984 and didn't detect any snow...ok, so perhaps they weren't taken in the winter ;-)

And yes, I can confirm all those things about Toronto and also that most North American cities are rather spread out. Too spread out for only 1.5 days.

Well... -20°C is more likely in Pforzheim! my garrison. But on the one hand, the distance isn't that great, and the temperature is guaranteed by military measures even though we are no longer at war, thankfully!
