Palais du Pharo, Marseille
&PiP's
Ordered by Napoleon III for his wife, Empress Eugenie, in the second half of the 19th century. The architect Vaucher chose the site of La Teste More, which overlooks the port of Marseille and offers a vast panorama of the coastline. The building required numerous and costly earthwork improvements but was never inhabited by the empress.
At the fall of the emperor, the city of Marseille recovered ownership of the palace, which was used as a hospital and since 2012 has been home to the University of Aix-Marseille.
In PIP #2 the adjoining and collegiate monument to the Heroes and Victims of the Sea, a large-scale metal sculpture, listed as a historical monument.

Erich
Happy day
