Basilique Notre-Dame de la Paix, Yamoussoukro

La basilique Notre-Dame de la Paix de Yamoussoukro est l’édifice religieux catholique le plus grand au monde. Son apparence rappelle celle de la basilique Saint-Pierre à Rome. Située à Yamoussoukro, capitale de la Côte d'Ivoire, son emplacement a été choisi par le premier président du pays, Félix Houphouët-Boigny, en 1983. La basilique est aujourd'hui encore un lieu fervent de la foi catholique en Afrique.
The Basilica of Our Lady of Peace in Yamoussoukro is the largest Catholic religious building in the world. Its appearance is reminiscent of St. Peter's Basilica in Rome. Located in Yamoussoukro, capital of Ivory Coast, its location was chosen by the country's first president, Félix Houphouët-Boigny, in 1983. The basilica is still a fervent place of the Catholic faith in Africa.

C'est vrai que la basilique, bien que récente, respecte la mystique et un certain classicisme qui la rend attachante, en dépit parfois de ses dimensions quelque peu écrasantes voire disproportionnées (mais ceci est un point de vue purement subjectif...).
