HBM aus Ancud

Ancud liegt auf der Insel Chiloé (das "o" ist also sehr wichtig), Chiles nach Feuerland zweitgrößter Insel.

Die Stadt liegt am Kanal von Chacao im Norden von Chiloé. Durch sie führt die Panamericana. Das dort vorherrschende Klima ist mild, aber außerordentlich feucht. Regen kommt überaus häufig vor, es fallen jährlich 2035 mm.

Ancud war ab 1788 die Hauptstadt Chiloés, musste diese Position allerdings 1982 an die Stadt Castro abtreten.

Am 22. Mai 1960 wurde Ancud von einem schweren Erdbeben mit anschließendem Tsunami stark zerstört. Dem Beben fielen unter anderem die Kathedrale zum Opfer, die später in verkleinerter Form wieder aufgebaut wurde, sowie der Bahnhof und die Eisenbahnlinie nach Castro.

Ancud lebt hauptsächlich vom Tourismus, der Fischerei und der Landwirtschaft.

Mitte März hat dort der Herbst schon Einzug gehalten: die Touristen sind größtenteils weg, die Restaurants leer bzw. geschlossen. Sogar die Humboldt-Pinguine in der benachbarten Punihuil-Bucht suchen sich ein anderes Quartier ...

Wenn ich den Namen Chile höre, muß ich zuerst immer an den Militärputsch des General Pinochet in Chile denken. Spürt man davon noch etwas in Chile, bzw. ist das dort noch ein Thema? Das Bild gefällt mir sehr und die Bank mit den Schwänen ist bestimmt auch ein beliebter Fotospot, oder!?
