"Clovelly ist ein Fischerdorf an der Nordostküste Devons in Großbritannien. Durch seine malerische Lage lockt Clovelly viele Touristen an. Der Ort selbst kann nur zu Fuß besichtigt werden. Für ältere und gebrechliche Menschen gibt es gegen Gebühr einen Land-Rover-Service, der diese Besucher auf einer neben dem Dorf gelegenen Asphaltstraße nach unten an den Hafen bringt. Dieser befahrbare Weg wird sonst vom im Hafen gelegenen Hotel genutzt.
Ein 800 Meter langer Weg mit Kopfsteinpflaster und einigen Stufen führt nach unten zum Hafen, wo man eine Kaimauer aus dem 14. Jahrhundert findet. Außerdem gibt es in dem Dorf zwei Kapellen, Restaurants sowie Souvenirläden und Kunsthandwerksläden. Gegen Gebühr kann man sich auf einem Esel durch den Ort führen lassen.
Im Ort leben zurzeit 400 Einwohner, wobei viele davon noch den klassischen Fischfang betreiben, was an den weißen Fischerhäuschen deutlich wird. Das Dorf ist seit 250 Jahren im Privatbesitz der Familie Rous, welche die seit 1988 erhobenen Eintrittsgelder nutzt, um das Dorf zu erhalten.

It has a harbour and is a tourist attraction notable for its steep pedestrianised cobbled main street, donkeys and views over the Bristol Channel. At the 2011 census, the parish population was 443, which was 50 fewer than ten years previously.
There is a road leading to the harbour but the village main street is not accessible by motor vehicle. The lack of vehicular access to the main street has led to deliveries being made by sledge. This is not done as a tourist attraction, but as a matter of practicality. Goods are delivered by being pulled down on a sledge from the upper car park, and refuse is collected by being pulled down the hill to a vehicle at the harbour.
Visitors can access the village during specified times. There is an entrance charge, which covers parking, entrance to two museums and Clovelly Court gardens, and an audio-visual guide to the village's history."
