Advertisement for a boat show in Muritz, which is a little north of Berlin. As always, I'm surprised at the mix of English and German.

German is one of the few languages where I can make myself understood in a basic way. I do find that the ability of many Europeans to speak English makes me very lazy when away from the UK.

I think that if you could somehow force an attitude similar to what the Germans seem to have on American culture and push us out of our English-only comfort zone, you'd make this a much stronger country.

Of course, the only other language I can even sort-of manage is a very weak Spanish, and only if you stick to present tense.
