In the northeast corner of the Tiergarten, a memorial to those who died trying to cross the Wall. The memorial had an informal feel that suggested that it was not officially recognized.

He seemed to be the guardian of this site. There is another whole site to the victims of the wall (photos of that forthcoming), so I suspected there was some 'back story' here that I wasn't understanding.
