Tempe Wright/Gammage Memorial Auditorium (1904)

Tempe Wright/Gammage Memorial Auditorium (1904)
Gammage Memorial Auditorium at Arizona State. Opened in 1964 and considered to be the last public building designed by Frank Lloyd Wright. The building is roughly derived from plans for an opera house for Baghdad that were never used. The exterior is described as both beautiful and hideous, with the interior described as being very well designed with excellent acoustics. Review: archive.azcentral.com/centennial/ent/articles/2011/08/19/20110819arizona-architecture-frank-lloyd-write-grady-gammage-auditorium-history.html The structure reminds me of the Marin Civic Center, which Wright designed at around the same time: Marin County Civic Center 3031a
