Walnut Canyon National Monument cliff dwellings (1570)

Dwelling on the Island Trail. The park service stabilizes deteriorating mortar in the walls, but does not reconstruct walls. Note the snow on the hillside -- it was in the low 30's (F) with some breeze, thus fairly cold in the shady portions of the trail. Visiting in the winter is ideal since it is easier to enjoy the area without crowds -- we only saw one other hiker in our hour or so on the trail.
