Berlin-Ichthyosaur State Park, NV (0698)

Berlin-Ichthyosaur State Park, NV (0698)
The state park is essentially two exhibits combined, an exhibit of the excavation of ichthyosaurs and the abandoned mining town of Berlin. This is a life-size characterization in concrete of an ichthyosaur.

Shonisaurus popularis. ;)
We used to run weekend field trips for the geology undergrads out here, camping overnight and checking out other geology on the way out and back. When the weather was really bad, the principal at the school in Gabbs would led us camp out there!

I've thought it would be interesting to camp out there and it's a nice campground, but the two times I've gone were times when the weather wasn't good for camping.

Shonisaurus popularis -- I just looked it up, somehow didn't see that naming when wandering around.
