Saguaro National Park east (2266)

Saguaro National Park east (2266)
From the Cactus Loop Drive in the Saguaro National Park Rincon Mountain (east) district. It was about 106F (41C) and I was on my last day of travelling, so just some pictures from very short hikes off the loop drive.

I have this somewhat absurd idea to do this park and Big Bend over a Thanksgiving holiday, though I don't know that I have Robin convinced on this one. Have you been to both districts? Is there much difference between the two?

I've been to both and would not describe them as being particularly different. The one on the west side does have some interesting New Deal structures (no photos of those) and is visited more (I was in both at the same time of year). Personally I didn't find them that special, probably because you see the Saguaro cactus all over the state. Big Bend in the Fall, though, should be quite interesting.
