Vienna Schonbrunn Gardens, Winter 1969 (026)

I don't recall why it was that I had a desire to visit Vienna, but I did during my first winter in Europe. The trip was a push -- the train ride to Vienna was overnight and took about 10 hours, I only had 2 days in Vienna, and then I had only 18 hours to take the train back west stopping in Salzburg for a few hours, and then to get back to Darmstadt in time to get to work. There was something about Vienna, however, that I very much liked -- and I hope to return there some day. As with the rest of the pictures for this page, few of the pictures were worth restoring (maybe because I made the trip in the winter) and thus there isn't much to give a sense of that trip.

This is the gardens of Schonbrunn Castle, in Vienna

Pictures in this set (Military Years) are from when I was in the military, from 1967-1970. All photos were originally slides, a friend spent very many hours restoring those slides to being viewable. Best viewed as part of the Military Years set.
