Moab Potash Mine 1810a

Moab Potash Mine 1810a
At the end of UT-279 (Potash road) is a potash mine and at the far end of the mine's railyard were these two locomotives, in a fenced off location. The mix of insignia on them suggest a checkered history, though there is some connection to the cleanup of the uranium tailings described in nearby photos. The 'Fernald' refers to the Fernald Feed Materials Production Center, a uranium processing facility in Ohio, which fabricated materials for U.S. nuclear weapons.
