Photos from Jane Slater

Week commencing 25 September 1989 – Priory Coaches (Cowdrey) of Gosport, Hampshire D620 WPJ, a Kassböhrer Setra S215HD new in August 1986, seen somewhere in Northern France. My younger daughter Jane took the photograph when on a school holiday. The coach conveyed a party from College Heath Middle School, Mildenhall. The school had booked a package deal for the trip and this was the coach which appeared rather than one of a locally based operator. This coach remained with the party for the four day tour. (Priory Coaches was the trading name of Cyril Cowdrey Limited which, according to the Southern Daily Echo dated 27 November 2003, entered receivership in October 2001).

Monday 3 September 2007 – Leading is a Eurolines lettered Setra S416 (S416 HDH?) wearing a cream rather than the usual base white paint job. The logo beneath the driver’s window appears to be that of Spanish contractor Autocares Hermanos Arriaga S.A. Directly behind is a Berkhof Axial 70 bodied Volvo operated by Club Cantabrica, Watford. The third vehicle has yet to be fully identified. The bodywork design looks like a Drögmöller product probably on a Volvo 9900 chassis. Volvo took a stake in Drögmöller in 1994 and built such a model at their Heilbronn plant in Germany until closure in 2005 when production moved to Poland. A trademark feature of many Drögmöller models was the upward slope of the floor and window line from front to back which allowed better forward vision for passengers. Each set of seats being slightly higher than those in front. My daughter Jane snapped this for me as we were queuing to board our ferry.

Monday 3 September 2007 – A Eurolines lettered Setra S416 (S416 HDH?) seen queuing to board a Dover bound ferry at Calais. Rather than base white it has an unusual base cream paint job. The logo beneath the driver’s window appears to be that of Spanish contractor Autocares Hermanos Arriaga S.A. My daughter Jane snapped this for me as we were queuing to board our ferry.

ATAC, Rome (Azienda per la mobilità di Roma Capitale SpA/Azienda Tramvie e Autobus del Comune) 8625 is a BredaMenarinibus Avancity+ S HTB. One of the 45 such dual mode articulated trolleybuses new in 2010 for a new service to Eur but due to delays with the installation of infrastructure were parked unused at the Tor Pagnotta depot until 2016. Sunday 14 August 2022 – Mercedes-Benz Citaro VS 216170 at Le Châtelard Frontière, Canton Valais, Switzerland. The livery on this vehicle is that of TVB, the local bus company operating in the winter sports resort of Verbier, although the TVB letters have been removed from the lower skirt alongside the shield logo. Also, the TVB fleet number 5408 evidenced on photographs contained on Internet photo hosting sites has been removed. This had been located near the top left of the windscreen. Fleet number 109 is now displayed here below the driver’s cab window. Quite likely that the vehicle is operated by Transports de Martigny et Régions SA (TMR), a major bus (and train) operator in its own right in Canton Valais which also holds contracts with different local authorities and Swiss Post.
