Tuesday 4 Sept 2007 (approx 1010) - First Eastern Counties 32488 (AU53 HKF), a Transbus bodied Volvo B7TL new in October 2003, seen in Friars Street , Ipswich when operating on service 66 to Martlesham Heath. This service travels on the specially reserved busway in Kesgrave and the bus is therefore fitted with small horizontal guide wheels. The black reflective glass building of the Willis group of insurance companies forms a backcloth which features a roof garden for staff use.

Friday 5 April 2019 (1734) – Mulleys Motorways SJ02 AAW stuck in Friday tea-time traffic on the old A11 (Newmarket Road), Barton Mills when heading back to Ixworth after completing the school service 956 from Bury St. Edmunds to Worlington and Mildenhall. It is a former Dublin Bus Alexander ALX400 bodied Volvo B7TL which I believe was their AV248 (02 D 10248) new around January 2002. Queuing traffic on the A11 dual carriageway from Chalk Hill to Fiveways encourages drivers to try and beat the queue by turning off and using the parallel old road. However, they then have difficulty re-joining the dual carriageway and have also to queue along with rat run traffic travelling out of Mildenhall through Barton Mills village. Those drivers who then try to avoid that queue use Bell Lane and The Street and when reaching The Bull find themselves in another queue. Unfortunately the legitimate routine local traffic like the bus gets bogged down in the queues.

Saturday 25 May 2019 (1110) - Kirkby Lonsdale Coach Hire MX62 AKK, a Wright StreetLite WF new in December 2012 to Battersby Silver Grey, seen at Glasson Dock when working the 1045 service 89 from Lancaster to Knott End. It is on the approach a small swing bridge that gives boat traffic access to the marina and a navigable canal system.

Monday 13 June 2016 (0934) – Spirit Buses is based in Rothbury, Northumberland where this photograph was taken. Alexander Dennis Enviro200 MX14 FUG was working the 0930 service 15 from Thropton via Rothbury to Alnwick serving the bus station (1000) then continuing via the town centre to Willowburn Retail Park (1010). The bus was new to Ace Travel of Aintree, Liverpool in March 2014.

Friday 16 June 2017 (1336) – Halton Borough Transport 87 (MIG 8170) seen leaving Queens Square bus station in Liverpool on the 1333 service 14A to Widnes, Runcorn and Murdishaw. A Scania CN230UB OmniCity that was new to Metrobus in March 2009 as YT09 BKN (#575). The towers of the Royal Liver Building and the famous Liver Birds can be seen along the skyline.

Friday 16 June 2017 (0939) – Halton Borough Transport 86 (MIG 8169) seen arriving at Green Oaks, Widnes. A Scania CN230UB OmniCity that was new to Metrobus in March 2009 as YT09 BKL (#574).

Thursday 15 June 2017 (1735) – The Runcorn Busway is a network of (unguided) bus only roadways opened in the early 1970s when Runcorn New Town was created. The two main operators using the busway are Halton Borough Transport and Arriva plus a service operated by Widnes based Ashcroft Travel under contract to Halton Borough Council. In this view taken from the end of the platform at Halton Lea South (Runcorn Shopping Centre) we see Halton 43 (PG03 YYZ), an East Lancs Myllennium bodied Dennis Dart new in August 2003. In the distance is Ashcroft Travel W869 YNB.

Thursday 15 June 2017 (1356) – Arriva (North West or Merseyside) 2620 (CX07 COJ) crossing Town Bridge in Northwich, an old swing bridge which spans the River Weaver Navigation. It is a Wright Pulsar bodied VDL/DAF SB200 new in June 2007 which was working service 82 to Chester. (There is mention on the Internet that this was the first production Pulsar).

Thursday 15 June 2017 (1356) – Arriva (North West or Merseyside) buses crossing Town Bridge in Northwich, an old swing bridge which spans the River Weaver Navigation. 2613 (CX56 CEK), a Plaxton Centro bodied VDL new in October 2006, was working local service 4. Following behind is 2620 (CX07 COJ), a Wright Pulsar bodied VDL new in June 2007, working service 82 to Chester.

Monday 25 March 1996 (0815) – Cars Delgrange 8840 HO 59 was seen leaving the square in Rexpöede when working a school service. It was a rather elderly Saviem. The company is based in the neighbouring village of Oost Cappel about 5km/3 miles away.

Monday 8 May 2017 (0840) – Lothian Buses 201 (SN11 EES), an Alexander Dennis (ADL) Enviro400H new in August 2011, passing the Royal Scots Greys Memorial, erected to commemorate the fallen during the Boer War. Other landmarks in the photograph are, on the left, the clock tower of the Balmoral Hotel and the Scott Monument. The domed building high above on the right was built as the head office of the Bank of Scotland in 1806 and is now the Scottish headquarters of the Lloyds Banking Group.

Friday 2 June 2017 (0758) – First Eastern Counties Buses 36170 (BD11 CFP), a Wright Eclipse Gemini bodied Volvo B9TL new in June 2011 carries branding for Norwich city ‘Blue Line’ services 25/26. It was seen on the forecourt of Norwich railway station.

Sunday 7 May 2017 (0918) – East Coast Buses is owned by Transport for Edinburgh and thus is related to Lothian Buses. 20944 (SF17 VMH) is a Wrightbus Eclipse bodied Volvo B8RLE new in April 2017. It was seen near St. John’s Episcopal Church at the western end of Princes Street in Edinburgh.

Thursday 21 March 2024 (1310) – First Eastern Counties Buses 36901 (YN69 XZD), an Alexander Dennis (ADL) Enviro400 City bodied Scania N250UD seen at Guyhirn when working the 1240 ‘excel’ service C from Peterborough to Norwich. I had just travelled from Peterborough on this service. This vehicle was the first of the 19 such buses delivered in late 2019 and allocated to King’s Lynn garage for the upgraded Norwich to Peterborough ‘excel’ service. 36901 arrived in November 2019 with the others arriving the following month. For a major cross-country road (East Midlands-Great Yarmouth) the A47 is in the main just single carriageway which carries lots of commercial traffic. In summer the holiday traffic increases the volume.

Thursday 24 June 2021 (0832) – A rather quiet looking Parkway in Bury St. Edmunds for the time of day. Konectbus/Chambers (Go-Ahead) 810 (YN55 PZO) was arriving on the 0750 service 752 from Bures. It is an East Lancs Omnidekka bodied Scania N94UD new to Metrobus (also Go-Ahead owned) in February 2006.

Thursday 12 June 2008 (1341) - MAN bus (PT 12319) of Austrian Postbus (ŐBB-Postbus GmbH), in Landbus livery with ‘Landbus Oberes Rheintal’ names, seen arriving at Feldkirch Busplatz on the 1252 service 60 from Götzis Bahnhof. Bus runs to the regional hospital, Landeskrankenhaus, abbreviated to ‘LKH’on the destination screen.

Sunday 16 August 1987 – Guide Friday became a countrywide sightseeing operation following its success with open top bus tours in Stratford-upon-Avon. The company employed secondhand buses converted to open top. ETO 163L, a Willowbrook bodied Daimler Fleetline new to Nottingham City Transport (163) in March 1973 was typical of the Guide Friday operation, and was seen leaving Anne Hathaway’s Cottage in Shottery near Stratford-upon-Avon. Anne Hathaway, who became the wife of William Shakespeare, was born at the cottage in 1556. The Cottage was originally a farmhouse built in 1463. The first Hathaway to live in the cottage was Anne’s grandfather John Hathaway, who was a tenant sheep farmer.
