Alexander Dennis Enviro200 MX14 FUG was working the 0930 service 15 from Thropton via Rothbury to Alnwick serving the bus station (1000) then continuing via the town centre to Willowburn Retail Park (1010). The bus was new to Ace Travel of Aintree, Liverpool in March 2014.

Thursday 15 June 2017 (1735) – The Runcorn Busway is a network of (unguided) bus only roadways opened in the early 1970s when Runcorn New Town was created. The two main operators using the busway are Halton Borough Transport and Arriva plus a service operated by Widnes based Ashcroft Travel under contract to Halton Borough Council. In this view taken from the end of the platform at Halton Lea South (Runcorn Shopping Centre) we see Halton 43 (PG03 YYZ), an East Lancs Myllennium bodied Dennis Dart new in August 2003. In the distance is Ashcroft Travel W869 YNB.

Other landmarks in the photograph are, on the left, the clock tower of the Balmoral Hotel and the Scott Monument. The domed building high above on the right was built as the head office of the Bank of Scotland in 1806 and is now the Scottish headquarters of the Lloyds Banking Group.

Thursday 21 March 2024 (1310) – First Eastern Counties Buses 36901 (YN69 XZD), an Alexander Dennis (ADL) Enviro400 City bodied Scania N250UD seen at Guyhirn when working the 1240 ‘excel’ service C from Peterborough to Norwich. I had just travelled from Peterborough on this service. This vehicle was the first of the 19 such buses delivered in late 2019 and allocated to King’s Lynn garage for the upgraded Norwich to Peterborough ‘excel’ service. 36901 arrived in November 2019 with the others arriving the following month. For a major cross-country road (East Midlands-Great Yarmouth) the A47 is in the main just single carriageway which carries lots of commercial traffic. In summer the holiday traffic increases the volume.

Sunday 16 August 1987 – Guide Friday became a countrywide sightseeing operation following its success with open top bus tours in Stratford-upon-Avon. The company employed secondhand buses converted to open top. ETO 163L, a Willowbrook bodied Daimler Fleetline new to Nottingham City Transport (163) in March 1973 was typical of the Guide Friday operation, and was seen leaving Anne Hathaway’s Cottage in Shottery near Stratford-upon-Avon. Anne Hathaway, who became the wife of William Shakespeare, was born at the cottage in 1556. The Cottage was originally a farmhouse built in 1463. The first Hathaway to live in the cottage was Anne’s grandfather John Hathaway, who was a tenant sheep farmer.

Friday 21 March 1997 – Two of the Wright Crusader bodied Dennis Dart SLFs new Universitybus in late 1996 zoom away from the Wall Hall Campus of the University of Hertfordshire just after 1600. P664 PNM, bound for Watford Junction Station, is leading with P668 PNM, bound for Welwyn Garden City, following. The spire of Aldenham village church is in the distance above the leading bus. Universitybus was established by the University of Hertfordshire in 1992 as a way of providing links for students travelling between the various separate Campus sites. The services were opened up to the general public and the operation grew to become what has become today. The company was rebranded Uno in 2005 and has operating bases at Hatfield, Northampton and Cranfield.
