Ribble 100th : Two events in Morecambe - 25/26 May 2019

Saturday 25 May 2019 - One of my favourite Ribble types in my school days was the forward entrance Metro-Cammell bodied Leyland PD3/5. Now preserved RCK 920 was new in May 1962 as Ribble 1775 and was seen at the gate of the Stagecoach garage in Morecambe during an open day. I was fortunate to be able to have a ride on this bus to Lancaster and back.

Now a partial open topper wearing a colourful Lake District livery. The event was to celebrate 100 years since the formation of Ribble Motor Services. Stagecoach acquired Ribble in May 1989. On the following day the Ribble Vehicle Preservation Trust held the 'Morecambe Vintage Bus Day' rally all making for an interesting weekend. Both events featured preserved buses and coaches in the colours of operators that worked services with Ribble.

Saturday 25 May 2019 - Stagecoach North West 11155 (YX68 UXF), an Alexander Dennis Enviro400D MMC new in December 2018, seen at the Morecambe garage open day. The destination display features the Ribble name in the style of the fleetname used in the 1950s/1960s era. The event was to celebrate 100 years since the formation of Ribble Motor Services. Stagecoach acquired Ribble in May 1989. On the following day the Ribble Vehicle Preservation Trust held the 'Morecambe Vintage Bus Day' rally all making for an interesting weekend.

It carries the 'Timesaver' livery that was used when Ribble was owned by the National Bus Company. The event was to celebrate 100 years since the formation of Ribble Motor Services. Stagecoach acquired Ribble in May 1989. On the following day the Ribble Vehicle Preservation Trust held the 'Morecambe Vintage Bus Day' rally all making for an interesting weekend. It carries branding for the Newcastle-upon-Tyne to Carlisle 'Cross Pennine' service. The event was to celebrate 100 years since the formation of Ribble Motor Services. Stagecoach acquired Ribble in May 1989. On the following day the Ribble Vehicle Preservation Trust held the 'Morecambe Vintage Bus Day' rally all making for an interesting weekend. Both events featured preserved buses and coaches in the colours of operators that worked services with Ribble.

Saturday 25 May 2019 - Stagecoach North West hosted an open day at their Morecambe garage to celebrate 100 years since the formation of Ribble Motor Services. Stagecoach acquired Ribble in May 1989. In this view is preserved Ribble 1686 (NRN 586), a MCW bodied Leyland Atlantean PDR1/1 in the cherry red livery used by Ribble when the bus was new in October 1960. The other buses in this photograph are from Stagecoach's current fleet.
