Bank Holiday Monday 25 May 2026 (0850) – This was the first day of operation of Flixbus service 950 from Heathrow Airport to Norwich. The service is worked by Transport Made Simple/Central Connect from their depot at Diss (originally the home of Simonds of Botesdale).
The first northbound trip (0600 from Heathrow) was worked by Neoplan Tourliner OY23 CYM loaned to TMS/CC by Cozy Travel of Sandy and is seen here at Fiveways, Barton Mills running spot on time.
The coach had been new to Whippet Coaches (FX44) in July 2023 and after Whippet ended a four year Flixbus contract Cozy Travel apparently took on the lease of six former Whippet Neoplan coaches.
Departing Heathrow (Central) at 0600 this trip travels via Luton Airport Parkway (0650-0655); Cambridge (Parkside) (0810-0820); and Thetford (0920-0925) arriving Norwich (Bus Station) at 1015.
It would seem that the trip was early enough in the day to not be encumbered by busy Bank Holiday traffic and the driver had to drag his heels a little taking longer breaks at each stop in order to maintain schedule. The actual times recorded on the Flixbus tracker on this trip were Heathrow (Central) at 0603; Luton Airport Parkway (0643-0657); Cambridge (Parkside) (0753-0821); and Thetford (0903-0926) arriving Norwich (Bus Station) at 1011.
The full service has six daily trips each way although not all serve Cambridge (Trumpington Park and Ride) and Norwich (University of East Anglia).
Departures from Norwich are:
0025 arriving Heathrow 0430
0200 arriving Heathrow 0610
0335 arriving Heathrow 0800
1100 arriving Heathrow 1530 (omits UEA and TP&R)
1250 arriving Heathrow 1720 (omits UEA and TP&R)
1500 arriving Heathrow 1920 (omits UEA)
Departures from Heathrow are:

Friday 15 May 2026 (1011) – Stagecoach East Alexander Dennis (ADL) built buses in Drummer Street Bus Station, Cambridge.
Left: 27852 (AE13 DZY), an Enviro300D new in May 2013, in ‘local services’ livery.
Right: 15219 (YN15 KHP), an Enviro400 bodied Scania N230UD new in August 2015. It wears the ocean green ‘special services’ livery for operation on the Cambridgeshire Guided Busway. Having been one of the front line buses used on the Busway from new, between 2020 and 2023 (at least) it ran in plain green without any lettering/graphics. It may now be one of the additional buses back in more regular Busway use since a speed restriction was put in place as safety fencing is erected. Three pedestrian/cyclist deaths occurred on the Busway between 2015 and 2021 for which Cambridgeshire County Council was fined £6m for health and safety breaches. The normal maximum vehicle running speed was originally 56mph (90kph), the speed restriction at present is 30mph (48kph) further reduced to 20mph (32kph) at crossing points. All this has seen some reduced service frequencies and the need for extra buses.
In the background is 10802 (SN66 WAA), an Enviro400D MMC that was new in December 2016. It wears a livery representing that once employed by Cambus Limited prior to takeover by the Stagecoach Group in December 1995.

A2B Travel Group YC67 NLV is an EVM bodied Mercedes-Benz 314CDI that was new to Focus Learning Trust in December 2017. The Cambridgeshire and Peterborough Combined Authority (CPCA) is embarking on a franchising model for the region’s bus services using the ‘Tiger’ name with a livery featuring red relief towards the rear. This mini-bus lacks the red though.
Beyond that is Whippet Coaches WG111 (BT66 MVL), a Wright Eclipse 3 bodied Volvo B8RLE new in December 2016, working the 1025 service X3 to Huntingdon.

Friday 15 May 2026 (0926) – Stagecoach East 13904 (BU69 XYC) seen leaving Drummer Street Bus Station, Cambridge on the 0925 Busway service B to Huntingdon and Hinchingbrooke Hospital (due there 1109 and arrived just two minutes late).
At present a 30mph (48kph) speed restriction is in place along the Busway reduced to 20mph (32kph) at crossing points whilst safety fencing is erected. Three pedestrian/cyclist deaths occurred on the Busway between 2015 and 2021 for which Cambridgeshire County Council was fined £6m for health and safety breaches. The normal vehicle running speed was originally 56mph (90kph).
The bus is one of twelve 98 seat ADL Enviro400XLB bodied Volvo B8L tri-axle double deckers delivered in December 2019 specifically for the Busway services. It wears the Stagecoach Group’s ocean green scheme applied to special services that is currently carried by Busway vehicles.
Since the introduction of the speed restrictions some service frequencies have been reduced along with the need for additional buses at busy times.

Friday 15 May 2026 (1010) – Stagecoach East 10802 (SN66 WAA) wears a livery representing that once employed by Cambus Limited prior to takeover by the Stagecoach Group (December 1995). Cambus, originally a National Bus Company subsidiary, was created in September 1984 and privatised in December 1986 when acquired by the company management. The livery layout and colours marks the anniversary and heritage.
10802, an Alexander Dennis (ADL) Enviro400D MMC that was new in December 2016, was seen heading into Drummer Street Bus Station in Cambridge.
When new it wore the grey ‘all routes’ Park and Ride livery. Before reaching Cambridge it was one of a number of buses temporarily assigned to Stagecoach Merseyside (Glenvale) to provide increased capacity during railway engineering works on the Merseyrail Wirral line.
On the left is Stagecoach East 86004 (BV23 NRJ), one of the thirty MCV bodied Volvo BZL electric double deckers new in April 2023, seen working service PR2 to the Newmarket Road Park & Ride site. These buses carry the same livery and replaced the differently coloured vehicles previously used for the individual Park and Ride sites. The colour identity is retained in the digital destination display. (Orange for Newmarket Road although that is very similar to the standard display as seen on 10802!).
