Saturday 5 September 2026 (1108) – Metroline Travel (Comfort Delgro) DEM2688 (YX69 NXY), an Alexander Dennis (ADL) Enviro200D new in October 2019, working service 393 (Chalk Farm to Clapton Pond) at Highbury Corner. The use of more red paint on the bodywork when compared with other operators that use black on the window pillars and along the panels above the windows, makes the bus look quite different. It is interesting to compare this bus with a similar vehicle of Lynx (Coastal Red).

Saturday 5 September 2026 (1122) – Metroline Travel (Comfort Delgro) DEM2691 (YX69 NYW), an Alexander Dennis (ADL) Enviro200D new in October 2019, working service 393 (Clapton Pond to Chalk Farm) on Holloway Road, Highbury. It was following Arriva London LT338 (LTZ 1338), a Wrightbus NBFL (New Bus For London also known as the New Routemaster) new in November 2014 working service 19 (Battersea Bridge to Finsbury Park). It carries graphics for Emirates airline. In the far distance is Metroline BDE2639 (LJ19 CVO), an Alexander Dennis (ADL) bodied BYD new in July 2019 working service 43 (Frien Barnet to London Bridge).

Saturday 5 September 2026 (1124) – Metroline Travel (Comfort Delgro) BDE2639 (LJ19 CVO), an Alexander Dennis (ADL) bodied BYD new in July 2019, on Holloway Road, Highbury working service 43 (Frien Barnet to London Bridge). On the right is the historic entrance to the original Highbury Underground railway station opened in 1904 by the Great Northern & City Railway (later the Northern City line). A new station was built (left of camera) in 1968 when the Victoria line opened.

Saturday 5 September 2026 – Islington Town Hall is a very busy place for marriages with some couples hiring vintage Routemaster buses to convey their wedding guests. Traditional Travel Limited, Orpington hires out such vehicles for film work, events, wedding parties etc. AEC/Park Royal Routemaster RML2270 (CUV 270C) had been new to London Transport and was awaiting a wedding party. (New circa July 1965). Routemaster buses worked served London’s regular services for close to 50 years (1956-2005).

Saturday 5 September 2026 – RedRoutemaster.com based in West London hires out vintage Routemaster buses for film work, events, wedding parties etc. AEC/Park Royal Routemaster RML2504 (JJD 504D) had been new to London Transport and was awaiting a wedding party outside Islington Town Hall. (New circa June 1966).

Companies like Traditional Travel Limited of Orpington hire out such vehicles for film work, events, wedding parties etc. AEC/Park Royal Routemaster RML2270 (CUV 270C) had been new to London Transport and was awaiting a wedding party. (New circa July 1965).

Awaiting at the kerbside is vintage AEC/Park Royal Routemaster RML2270 (CUV 270C) operated by Traditional Travel Limited of Orpington, a company that hires out such vehicles for film work, events, wedding parties etc. The more modern bus beyond is operating a regular Transport for London service.

Many couples arrange the hire of vintage buses to convey wedding guests (the cost ranges from £650-£950 according to a Google search) and two former London Transport AEC/Park Royal Routemaster buses can be seen in the background. On the left is RML2504 (JJD 504D) operated by RedRoutemaster.com and on the right is RML2270 (CUV 270C) operated by Traditional Travel Limited of Orpington.

Saturday 5 September 2026 (1716) – Islington Town Hall is a very busy place for marriages with some couples hiring vintage Routemaster buses to convey their wedding guests. One of the last ceremonies of the day sees a recently married couple with AEC/Park Royal Routemaster SMK 744F that had been new to London Transport circa 1967 as their RML2744. I believe the bus is from the fleet of RedRoutemaster.com based in West London, a company which hires out vintage Routemaster buses for film work, events, wedding parties etc. The hire companies offer extra touches such as showing the names of those tying the knot on the destination screens and souvenir bus tickets also with those names on issued by the on board conductor. This one hired for the wedding of Lina and Felix.
