Rotel Tours PA-PA-52 with accommodation trailer in Chester - 17 Sep 1974 (also see photo insert PiP)

Tuesday 17 September 1974 - Rotel Tours, ‘rotel’ being derived from ‘Rollende Hotel’ (rolling hotel), is a German based tour company established in the late 1940s that specialises in low budget adventure type holidays.

In this view, taken on Little Roodee coach park in Chester, a Mercedes-Benz O 302 coach was towing a trailer containing the sleeping accommodation. Forty little windows can be counted of the sleeping compartments each about 3 feet high and 6 feet long across the width of the trailer.

The company website today shows some tri-axle rigid truck and coach chassis fitted in a half and half style with the sleeping area in the rear portion.
