Eastern Counties VR189 (RPW 189R) and TH909 (C908 BEX) at Mildenhall – 13 Jul 1991 (144-23)
Saturday evening 13 July 1991 – The drivers of Eastern Counties Omnibus Company Limited chat whilst the passengers transfer from one vehicle to the other at King Street, Mildenhall.

The Mildenhall outstation VR had worked from King’s Lynn as the 151 service and the mini-bus, an ‘instation’ vehicle from Bury St. Edmunds garage, was covering the Mildenhall-Bury St. Edmunds portion of the service.

Eastern Coachworks bodied Bristol VR VR189 (RPW 189R) was one of the buses ordered by Waveney District Council which had ceased operations before the bus was delivered in November 1976. (ECOC took over the order for two such buses which became their VR189 and VR190. VR189 was normally allocated to Ipswich garage so was possibly covering for a Bury bus which was under repair at Ipswich. It would appear there had been a modification to the windscreen wipers as the style fitted here are of the type used on a series 2 model VR but the mountings still in place below the windscreen are where series 3 model VRs have the wiper arms.

Ford Transit with Robin Hood van conversion bodywork new in February 1986 was TH908 (C908 BEX).
