Leyland Titan line up at Showbus, Duxford – 26 Sep 1993 (206-18)
Sunday 26 September 1993 – The modern day Leyland Titan was well represented at the 21st Showbus Rally held at the Imperial War Museum site at Duxford Aerodrome. Most of the Titan production was bought new by London Transport/London Buses. The integral model was originally built by Park Royal Vehicles (London) but production was subsequently transferred to the Leyland National factory at Workington, Cumbria. (The definition ‘Leyland bodywork’ below implies built at Workington). Left right:
CUL 162V, London & Country, Park Royal bodywork (originally London T162) new in February 1980
GNF 6V, Swindon & District 106, Park Royal bodywork (new to Greater Manchester Transport as their 4006 in November 1979
NHG 732P, K & M Gagg of Bunny, Nottinghamshire, (the destination screen proclaims ‘Leyland Titan no. 1’ new as the first prototype Leyland B15 Titan built at Park Royal and registered by Leyland Vehicles in November 1995. (It had been anticipated along the way that production of the Titan would take place at the AEC factory at Southall but this was not to be. This bus carries an AEC badge on the front perhaps as a little mischief!)
