Stagecoach Cambus 527 (P527 EFL) between Mildenhall and Barton Mills – 24 May 1998 (396-32)

Sunday 24 May 1998 - Stagecoach Cambus operated the Park and Ride services to the annual Mildenhall Air Fete for a number of years. The buses from the car parking site at Newmarket travelled along the A11 and then through Barton Mills village to reach Mildenhall. The return journey used a different route.

The company drafted in drivers from other locations to supplement the locally based staff. Some of the out of area drivers played it safe by returning to Newmarket via the route they had used for their inward journey.

Northern Counties Palatine bodied Volvo Olympian 527 (P527 EFL) was quite possibly being driven by a seconded driver when seen travelling between Mildenhall and Barton Mills when running back to Newmarket. It was new in October 1996.

When Stagecoach introduced its national fleet numbering system the bus became 16527 and in 2007 was converted to partial open top assigned to the Stratford-upon-Avon depot of Midland Red South to work sightseeing tours. Later still it moved to Stagecoach South for use on tree lopping duties.
