Wallace Arnold L933 NWW in Ipswich – 25 Apr 1994 (220-26)
The 1994 intake of coaches to the Wallace Arnold Tours fleet included 15 bodied by Van Hool (L906-920 NWW), 29 by Jonckheere (L901-905/L942-965 NWW) and 21 by Plaxton (L921-941 NWW).
Monday 25 April 1994 - Wallace Arnold Tours L933 NWW, a Plaxton Excalibur bodied Volvo B10M new within the past 25 days, seen parked in the former Grey-Green (George Ewer) garage in Ipswich. An engineer from the local Volvo dealership, Duffields of Ipswich, was dealing with a problem on the vehicle during a ‘Constable Country’ tour.
Grey-Green Coaches was based in Stamford Hill, London and operated coach services from the capital to most coastal resorts in the south-east and south-west of England including those to Great Yarmouth and Felixstowe via Ipswich where this small coach station/garage was located.
The building was sold by the company over thirty years ago and has survived in use by a taxi business and a car valeting business etc. The large lettering of the once famous coach company remains intact in the plasterwork over the entrance.
