R W Appleby WJY 760 in Scarborough – 12 August 1994 (237-24)

Friday 12 August 1994 – R W Appleby Limited had an active base at the Yorkshire coastal town of Scarborough operating normal town services and open top services for holidaymakers.

WJY 760 was a Metro-Cammell bodied Leyland Atlantean PDR1/1 that had been new as a standard covered top bus to Plymouth City Transport in October 1962. Their original fleet number was 160 but it became 460 when the bus was converted to open top. It still wore the ‘Golden Hind’ livery and fleet number 460 from its days at Plymouth.
