Autonomous vehicle trial, Cambridge - 16 Jun 2021 (P1080574)

Wednesday 16 June 2021 (0941) – Two different sized electric vehicle vehicles seen at Madingley Road Park and Ride site, Cambridge.

On the left is an Aurrigo driverless shuttle vehicle BD20 RJU conducting trials on a route to the nearby physical science and technology site of Cambridge University.

On the right is Stagecoach East (Cambus) 14033 (LF69 UXN), one of the two Alexander Dennis Enviro400EV bodied BYD electric buses new in February 2020, was working the service from the city centre. Normally the pair work the ‘Citi 6’ from Cambridge city centre to Oakington.

(During June 2021 the trials of the driverless shuttle vehicles were carried out as part of a Government funded project through Innovate UK conducted by the Greater Cambridge Partnership, Smart Cambridge and engineering firm Aurrigo Driverless Technology).
