Suffolk County Council MTV 504P and C304 NHD at Bury St. Edmunds – 21 Feb 1990 (112-8)

Suffolk County Council MTV 504P and C304 NHD at Bury St. Edmunds – 21 Feb 1990 (112-8)
Wednesday 21 February 1990 – Suffolk County Council vehicles parked at the New Shire Hall in Bury St. Edmunds.

Left is MTV 504P, a Plaxton Supreme Express bodied Bedford YMT new to Barton as their 504 in May 1976.

Right is C304 NHD, a Plaxton Paramount 3200 bodied Bedford YNT new to Brown’s Coaches of South Kirby in March 1986. After service with SCC the coach was operated by Pat Carroll of Drogheda, Ireland registered 86 LH 1537.

Bury St. Edmunds was the county town of the county of West Suffolk but, as a result of local government re-organisation in 1974, the County of Suffolk was created with its administrative centre based in Ipswich. Only built in 1968, the New Shire Hall building became redundant for its original purpose but was subsequently used by the police. In 2015 it became a Premier Inn hotel.
