Saturday 27 July 2019 – Leicester Heritage Bus Running Day at the First Leicester Citybus garage. First Midland Red sent these two vehicles from their current fleet to the event.

Left is 69460 (WX59 BZO), a Wright Eclipse bodied Volvo B7RLE new in new in November 2009 to First Bristol, which carries a livery for operation on service 144 from Worcester to Birmingham branded the ‘Salt Road’. First publicity tells that salt deposits in the Droitwich area were thought to have been exploited in the Iron Age and in Roman times salt became a valuable resource. The road between Worcester and Birmingham is said to have been known by the term ‘Salt Road’.

Right is 64045 (LK08 FME), a Mercedes-Benz O 530 Citaro new in June 2008 to First Beeline, which carries a livery for operation on service 35 from Worcester city centre to Blackpole. Branded ‘Nimrod’ after a musical composition by Sir Edward Elgar who originates from the local area.
