Friday 24 May 2019 (1754) – Two Diamond North West (Rotala Group) buses seen at Salford Quays.

Left is 20802 (MX54 KXV), an Optare Solo new in October 2004 to TLC Coaches of Bradford in September 2011.

Right is 21222 (LN19 UBD), a Mellor bodied Mercedes-Benz 516CDi new in March 2019, seen at Salford Quays. Service 79 runs from Stretford to Swinton during the daytime with the last three trips of the day extended to Clifton.

The Quays are the former Salford Docks that were part of the once thriving Port of Manchester. Now thriving as a retail, cultural and residential area which includes Media City where the broadcasters BBC and ITV have their northern bases. The water to the left is the former Number 9 Dock (Huron Basin today). The road in this photograph crosses a dam, the water out of shot to the right led to where the ships joined the Manchester Ship Canal.
