'Spoddendale Coachways - A computing project'
In the early 1970s Valerie Nolan, a teacher at Spurley Hey High School in Gorton, Manchester, created a ‘Computing Project’ workbook. The operations of Spoddendale were built into the project. The pupils used the workbook in their lessons primarily to teach them computer programming but also touching on commercial business, geography, mileages, how to read timetables etc. The cover of the book, which contained 122 pages, featured a caricature of a jovial looking Spoddendale coach.
