Wessex (National Express contractor) 158 (J204 HWS) at Thetford - 18 Feb 1995
Saturday 18 February 1995 – The exit from the old Thetford bus station was a very tight affair. Buses and coaches came up an incline and had to turn right. There were walls on the immediate left and opposite the actual exit. On the right was a telegraph pole. Wessex of Bristol 158 (J204 HWS), a Plaxton Expressliner I bodied Volvo B10M new in April 1992, is seen on the rise to the street before turning towards the camera. It was operating the 1000 London-Lowestoft service 597. All but one of the service 597 trips are worked by Ambassador Travel (Anglia) Limited but the 1000 London-Lowestoft service (arriving 1405) returning as the 1545 Lowestoft-London service (arriving 1950) is operated by Wessex between trips on the Bristol-London/London-Bristol service. ‘Rapide Airlink’ livery was carried as this coach is normally assigned to work the service from Bristol to Heathrow and Gatwick Airports.
