Wessex (National Express contractor) 163 (K794 OTC) at Newmarket - 22 Jan 1994

Saturday 22 January 1994 (1215) – Wessex of Bristol 163 (K794 OTC), a Plaxton Expressliner II bodied Volvo B10M new in June 1993, seen in the Rookery bus station in Newmarket when working the 1030 London-Lowestoft service 597. Service 597 began with the Summer 1993 timetables on Sunday 23 May 1993 and was largely worked by Ambassador Travel (Anglia) Limited. However, the 1030 London-Lowestoft service (arriving 1435) returning as the 1615 Lowestoft-London service (arriving 2020) runs were worked by Scottish based Express Travel Services, the working sandwiched between overnight Scotland-London and London-Scotland runs. However, with the commencement of the Winter 1993/1994 schedules on Monday 1 November 1993 this working was assigned to Wessex. I presume it was sandwiched between Bristol-London/London-Bristol runs.
