Si, si, nous avons les "Alpes" dans notre région dans l'ouest de la France : les Alpes Mancelles ! Un cadre montagnard avec son relief escarpé aux éboulis plongeants et sa rivière qui serpente dans de petites vallées encaissées et verdoyantes, des falaises rocheuses et boisées, des gorges étroites encombrées de rochers aux collines recouvertes d'un tapis de genêts et de bruyère - ce paysage a vraiment des allures de "montagne"... Eine bergige Umgebung mit einem Relief und schroffen, steil abfallenden Geröllhalden sowie einem Fluss, der sich durch kleine, tief eingeschnittene, grüne Täler schlängelt, felsigen und bewaldeten Klippen, engen, von Felsen verstopften Schluchten bis hin zu Hügeln, die mit einem Teppich aus Ginster und Heidekraut bedeckt sind - diese Landschaft hat wirklich etwas von einem "Gebirge"...

A most remarkable site. Currently, more than 100 statues (2.5 - 7 m high) have been erected and you can watch the sculptors at work. The aim is to create a "Breton Easter Island of the 3rd millennium", a place honoring the collective memory of Brittany through the installation of large granite statues, to the effigy of 1000 Breton saints who founded a parish; around myths of foundation are added legends telling the exploits of these characters.

L’abbaye Notre-Dame de Déols est une ancienne abbaye bénédictine, maintenant largement en ruines (fondée en 917, juste après l'abbaye de Cluny en Bourgogne). Tout comme son puissant modèle bourguignon, l'abbaye était placée sous l'autorité directe du pape (et non sous celle de l'archevêque). Le prestigieux passé médiéval ne livre pas tous ses secrets au premier coup d’œil, et c'est génial de les découvrir petit à petit. 1100 YEARS OF HISTORY Notre-Dame de Déols Abbey is a former Benedictine abbey, now largely in ruins (founded in 917, just after Cluny Abbey in Burgundy). Like its powerful Burgundian model, the abbey was placed under the direct authority of the Pope (and not that of the Archbishop). The prestigious medieval past doesn't reveal all its secrets at first glance, and it's great to discover them step by step.

Built around 1123 by Henry I Beauclerc, Duke of Normandy and King of England (son of William de Conqueror), its construction made Vire one of the most significant strongholds in Normandy. The castle was slighted by order of Richelieu in 1630. The ruins of the quadrangular tower are still impressive. The western facade is notable for its powerful flat buttresses, windows and fireplaces visible over three stories with traces of defensive structures.

Since the 10th century, the Puy is one of the starting points of the pilgrimage to Santiago de Compostela. The crowds of pilgrims come to venerate the famous Black Madonna of Puy. Pilgrims starting their journey to Santiago de Compostela gather to be blessed each morning in the cathedral.
