Bridge of Skies

A wonderful view Carol, last night night I saw that bridge in a DVD of Scottish train journeys.

Thank you very much Dave. Really appreciated. Did it include footage of the Glenfinnan viaduct? We took the steam train from Fort William to Mallaig on one of our holidays and that took us over Glenfinnan Viaduct

A truly picturesque capture! Gorgeous scene, beautiful color in the water and the sky and clouds, and perfectly sharp (the writing on the boat is sharp and clear when the picture is viewed at a size of 2048 pixels).

Thank you very much Micritter. Much appreciated. We have driven across that bridge many times and decided to park up one day and walk across to get some photos from the bridge. It is steeper than it looks and higher too. I came away without a single shot, - I couldn't see over the top! My husband says it is to stop jumpers,,well I jumped and I jumped but still couldn't see anything!!! Lol!!!

Oh wow, Carol, this is so beautiful. I love how the bridge just sets everything off perfectly and all the shades of gray. Really nice.

The charm of Scottish scenery is the changeable weather which transforms the scenery every ten minutes or so.(Unless it decides to go into dreich mode for a week). Beautiful soft grey sky and variations of light across the water.

That is a great word - dreich, - although I wouldn't want to have to use it to describe my holiday! Still they say that 'the rain is God’s way o’ cleanin’ the coos!’ don't they?

Cracking shot across the water to Skye Carol. The clouds have done their usual excellent job of hiding the Cuillins, but what a backdrop they have provided themselves; wonderfully atmospheric (no pun intended)

Thank you very much Erich. It was one of those days when the weather was unsettled. We were about to go back to the cottage and stopped to take photos here but as you can see by the clouds it was about to rain. We only managed a couple of shots.

We once had a holiday based at Nostie (back up the road towards Eilean Donan Castle) and it rained and rained and rained but we still loved it and of course it was all the more exciting to actually see The Cuillin when the rain stopped.

Thank you very much Colin. I know what you mean. If you get a wet week you appreciate the views all the more when the sun decides to come out. I must admit as long as I am still able to take photos I really don't mind a bit of rain, and the photos can be more dramatic and moody because of it. In fact we have stayed on Skye when it was so hot the grass was parched and dry from lack of rain.Great views but the photos suffered for it.

I like the thinking behind the musical links here. Very well matched to the photo, Carol :-) Excellent composition and although it was about to rain it does make for a pleasingly dramatic and moody photo. I'm also now thinking I could use "Bridge of Sighs" with one or more of my Oxford shots :-)
