Corona. The hug curtain - Corona.

The numerous winning photos of the 2021 competition of the World Press Foundation are currently displayed in shop windows in the city centre of Kitzingen and attract many visitors. Pictured is a particularly striking image by Mads Nissen (Denmark) showing Rosa Luzia Lunardi (85) being embraced by nurse Adriana Silva da Costa Souza , at Viva Bem Nursing Home, São Paulo, Brazil. In March, nursing homes across the country had closed their doors to all visitors due to the COVID-19 pandemic, leaving millions of Brazilians unable to visit their elderly relatives. Caregivers were instructed to minimise physical contact with vulnerable people. At the Viva Bem nursing home, a simple invention, "The Hug Curtain" (a kind of plastic cape), ensured that people could hug each other again.
At the moment, despite enormously high Civid cases, it looks as if the pandemic no longer exists in Germany. In Kitzingen (13.3.22), an unusually large number of people crowded through the city centre, all without distance and protective masks. The PiP shows the situation.
