Yesterday I was in Bayreuth for a family affair. That's why I'm posting a picture today that was taken in the courtyard garden of Bayreuth Palace.
It shows a view of the New Palace, taken from the edge of the canal, which is flanked by a "sea horse" among other statues. After the construction of the New Palace, the garden, which had already been in the margravial possession since the end of the 16th century, was transformed into a Baroque garden. At the end of the 18th century, on the instructions of Margrave Alexander, the Court Garden was transformed into a park in the "Engelland style" with curved paths and free plantings. Nevertheless, the basic features of the geometric garden can still be read in the Court Garden today.
