Goodbye Iceland

Diese auffällige Skulptur befindet sich in Reykjavik an der nördlichen Küstenstraße Sæbraut. Aus Edelstahl bestehend, ähnelt sie einem Wikingerschiff und gehört zu den meist fotografierten Kunstwerken in Reykjavík. Unterschiedliche Licht- und Wetterverhältnisse sorgen für Abwechslung. Bei Sonnenauf- und Sonnenuntergang scheint das Metall zu glühen. Meine Islandreise in Bildern ist nun beendet. Ich hoffe, dass sich viele an den Fotos erfreut haben und Gefallen an diesem grandiosen Land gefunden haben.

The Sun Voyager (Icelandic: Sólfar) is a sculpture by Jón Gunnar Árnason, located next to the Sæbraut road in Reykjavík, Iceland. Sun Voyager is described as a dreamboat, or an ode to the Sun. The artist intended it to convey the promise of undiscovered territory, a dream of hope, progress and freedom. Made of stainless steel, it resembles a Viking ship and is one of the most photographed works of art in Reykjavík. My Iceland journey in pictures is now finished.
