Das Konzert- und Opernhaus gilt als eine architektonische Attraktion und ein neues Wahrzeichen der Hauptstadt Reykjavik.
Das Besondere: Die Glasbausteine sind den sechseckigen Basaltsäulen nachempfunden, die in der baumlosen Natur der vulkanischen Insel so häufig vorkommen. Siehe PiP: Basaltsäulen beim Wasserfall Svartifoss
Die mannigfachen Spiegel- und Lichtbrechungseffekte, die sich mit ihnen erzeugen lassen, beruhen auf Berechnungen höherer Mathematik. Keine der 956 Säulen gleicht der anderen. Die Harpa von außen: s. PiP

The manifold mirror and refraction effects that can be created with them are based on calculations of higher mathematics. None of the 956 columns is the same as the other.
