When I was in Germany I never liked the 1 en 2 p pieces, put them away somewhere on a bench or table.
Was there also a 10mark coin in usage? I never saw one.

It is a Robert Koch commemorative coin for his 150th birthday on 9. February 1994.
From 1987 to 2001 commemorative coins with a nominal value of 10 DM were issued in the Federal Republic of Germany, honouring national themes, anniversaries of famous Germans and high festivities. The 10 DM commemorative coin programme of the FRG comprised 37 coins, 23 of which were made of 625 silver and 14 of which were made of 925 silver.

From 1987-1997 they were made from 625 silver, then the alloy was increased to 925 parts silver, so now sterling silver was used.

WONDERFUL!!! I love all the different sizes and markings on the coins! :) I've never seen these before, or, it's been a very long time since I've held German coins in my hand--I was 21 years old then! Thanks for the memories! Great job, super on the black background too, by the way!

Schön mal wieder einen "Heiermann" zu sehen ;) ...
als Kinder war das ein Vermögen... eine Handvoll Kleingeld.

Und die 10 Mark Münzen,
haben unsere Eltern immer von der Bank geholt und gesammelt.

Ja, damit konnte man als Kind einiges anfangen ...
Ich kann mich noch an die Zeit erinnern, als man für seine Hochzeitsschuhe 1 Pfennig-Stücke gesammelt hat.

Somewhere in a box somewhere in my house, I have a pfennig lying around. I don't remember how I acquired it but it was exotic to a child.

Yes, it was always exciting for me when my cousin from Connecticut gave me a few dollars during her visit.
. . . and then, in the 60/70s, it was really worth a lot.
